Med/Surg RN Job Details

• Assignment Type: Locum tenens (travel nursing contract)
• Location: Livingston, Tennessee 38570 (Tennessee nursing jobs)
• Duration: 13 weeks (September 29, 2025 – December 5, 2025)
• Shift: 12-hour night shifts (19:00 – 07:00)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Healthcare Setting: Medical/Surgical Unit
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $1800-$1840

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Tennessee or multi-state compact license (attach to application)
• Current ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications (American Heart Association required; attach to application)
• Minimum 2 years of recent medical-surgical (Med/Surg) nursing experience
• Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) systems preferred
• Strong clinical assessment, patient care, and communication skills

Med/Surg RN Responsibilities

• Provide direct, individualized nursing care to diverse adult and surgical patients in a hospital setting
• Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans
• Administer medications, IVs, and treatments as prescribed; monitor for adverse reactions
• Educate patients and families on surgical procedures, post-operative care, and illness/injury management
• Monitor and adjust specialized medical equipment, interpret electronic displays, and record vital signs
• Initiate corrective action in response to adverse patient symptoms or emergencies
• Deliver bedside care for medical, pre- and post-surgical patients
• Change dressings, insert catheters, start IVs, and assist physicians during exams and treatments
• Respond to life-saving situations using nursing standards and protocols
• Participate in discharge planning and patient education for optimal outcomes
• Accurately document all patient care information in EMR systems
