Business Owner in Tenafly, NJ Seeking a Full-Time Housekeeper

Position: Full-Time Live-Out Housekeeper
Schedule: 8-hour workday, Monday–Friday with flexibility; approximately two weekends per month required during busy hosting seasons (less frequent in winter)
Salary: $1,200–$1,600 per week, depending on experience, plus health insurance

Relocation: No – local candidates within driving distance preferred

About the Family

Business owner located in Tenafly, New Jersey is seeking an experienced Full-Time Housekeeper to maintain and help manage her home. The principal works from home and values a professional who can independently maintain a well-organized household while respecting privacy and creating a calm, orderly environment.

The home is a 7-bedroom residence situated on 6 acres , with the most frequently used areas being the kitchen and the principal’s bedroom . The homeowner has a long history of employing household staff for many years and is hoping to find another long-term, reliable professional to become part of her household.

During the summer months, the principal often travels and may ask the housekeeper to accompany her to the Hamptons or Nantucket . When the principal is away, the housekeeper may focus on deeper cleaning projects or home organization.

Home Size: 7-bedroom home on 6 acres
Pets: One miniature poodle (approximately 20 lbs) and backyard chickens

Responsibilities

• Full-charge housekeeping, including daily cleaning and overall home upkeep
• Laundry, ironing, and wardrobe care
• Maintaining cleanliness and organization throughout the home, with particular attention to the kitchen and primary bedroom
• Grocery shopping and preparing simple, healthy meals
• Cooking straightforward meals such as roasted chicken, vegetables, and low-fat proteins (principal does not eat bread or pasta)
• Maintaining organization and household supplies
• Managing household vendors and service providers (plumbers, repairs, etc.)
• Running errands as needed
• Feeding backyard chickens (simple daily task)
• Supporting the household during hosting periods, including occasional weekends
• Traveling with the principal in the summer to maintain the household at seasonal residences when needed
• Completing deeper cleaning or home projects when the principal is traveling

Requirements

• Prior experience as a housekeeper in a private household
• Strong cleaning, laundry, and household organization skills
• Comfortable preparing simple, healthy meals
• Experience coordinating with vendors and managing household needs
• Valid driver’s license and ability to run errands
• Comfortable with pets (one small dog) and feeding backyard chickens
• Willingness to work occasional weekends during busy seasons
• Ability to travel with the principal to summer residences when needed
