Job Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled SQL Server Database Architect for a hybrid contract-to-hire role with a leading FinTech company. The ideal candidate will architect, optimize, and manage robust, scalable database systems while applying expert-level SQL performance tuning and secure data practices. You will also contribute to strategic data initiatives, high-level architecture, and platform modernization efforts.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Architect scalable SQL Server database schemas to meet evolving business needs
• Optimize performance using advanced SQL tuning techniques
• Implement enterprise-grade database security (encryption, auditing, access controls)
• Develop and manage complex SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, and views
• Lead data migration and consolidation efforts using SQL expertise
• Ensure business continuity through backup, replication, and recovery strategies
• Design and support SQL-based ETL processes (SSIS), especially for QRM systems
• Manage large-scale databases, redesigning and partitioning as needed
• Work with availability groups, distributed availability groups, and replicas
• Create and maintain documentation related to data models, coding standards, and architecture
• Provide technical leadership and strategic input on data architecture and design

Required Skills:

• Strong experience architecting and managing SQL Server databases
• Hands-on with performance tuning, optimization, and data modeling
• Expert in SSIS, T-SQL, ETL processes, and large data migrations
• Knowledge of availability groups, distributed AGs, and database replicas
• Deep understanding of enterprise database security practices
• Proven success handling large datasets and partitioning strategies
• Experience with QRM data processing and support
• Familiar with logging, monitoring, and alerting frameworks

Preferred Skills:

• Experience in a FinTech or regulated industry environment
• Strategic mindset with experience contributing to long-term data architecture
• High-level design experience and ability to lead cross-functional data teams
