Traffic Control Solutions Corp has immediate openings for Traffic Control Technician/Highway Safety Flagger positions in New Jersey for our Bayonne, Barnegat, and Williamstown locations.

As the Traffic Control Coordinator/Highway Safety Flagman, you will be responsible for overseeing all traffic management operations for construction and consultant bridge, overhead sign structure, and geotechnical sites, and other projects requiring traffic control. You will ensure the implementation of safety measures, compliance with traffic laws, and the smooth flow of traffic to minimize disruptions.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Operate company trucks to transport materials and equipment to job sites.
• Drive TMA (Truck Mounted Attenuator) vehicle to and from projects and on work sites to protect workers and work zones.
• Place temporary construction signs in work areas.
• Position arrow boards or variable message boards in work areas. Set up traffic cones and other traffic safety devices in work areas.
• Monitor the work zone throughout the shift to ensure items remain in their proper locations.
• Collect and load traffic control items at the beginning and end of shifts.
• Install, remove, and reset delineators, signs, posts, and supports.
• Follow all safety rules and regulations to ensure a safe work environment.
• Adhere to all Company Policies and Procedures.
• Perform other work-related duties as assigned.
• Perform DOT pre-trip inspections of company work vehicles when assigned to operate

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

• Valid Driver’s License, with no more than 2 points on license, and have your own vehicle to arrive at our hub location closest to you for work. Please be located within 30 minutes of our hub location to ensure meeting our hiring requirements.
• Must be able to pass a background check, including a motor vehicle records check, before being hired.
• Must successfully pass a drug test and meet federal DOT requirements. This includes random tests throughout employment. Marijuana is an illegal drug when driving any DOT vehicle.
• Wear proper safety equipment (work boots with safety toes, a hard hat, safety glasses, and a safety vest).
• Basic reading and writing ability to comply with road signs, complete paperwork, and knowledge of federal and state motor carrier safety regulations.
• Must be able to read and study state DOT plans and ensure traffic control plans are implemented and maintained.
• Good knowledge of state and local roadways and experience operating delivery vehicles of varying sizes.
• Ability to lift and move up to 30 pounds.

COMPENSATION AND SCHEDULING:

- Typical job site locations are within 2 hours of the dispatch hub. Starting pay is $ 17.00 - $20.00 per hour, with a mandatory 30-minute unpaid lunch break. Employees must bring lunch to work. The successful completion of the online ATSSA Flagging course must be completed within the first 30 days of employment.

- After 6 months of employment and having proven the knowledge and leadership to be a TCC foreman, a TCC course will be made available, which rewards an immediate $5.00 per hour raise.

- A times, our customers have projects that require us to pay our Traffic Control Technicians' prevailing wage rates. Those rates vary from $80.00 - $100.00 per hour. The jobs are offered to employees who demonstrate the work ethic, availability, and knowledge of his/her position.

- Some of our customers have projects that are further than two hours away from our hub locations. These locations will be classified as travel overnight jobs. All employees are required to do at least one week's worth of these travel jobs per month, if these jobs are available. Typically, these jobs run from Monday through Thursday. For our employees to be home by Thursday evening. These jobs pay an additional $5.00 per hour, including travel hourly pay to a hotel where the job site is located at the company's expense.

- Typical scheduled shifts are 70%-day, 25% night, and 5% weekends. All applicants must have availability to be scheduled for any of these shifts. Our schedule is sent out by 5 pm the previous day. Traffic Control Solutions offers a flexible shift-off policy requiring 2 weeks' notice for a shift unable to be ability for.

- Traffic control solutions are required by the state of New Jersey to provide full-time, part-time, and temporary employees with up to 40 hours of earned sick leave per year to care for themselves or a loved one, including chosen family.
