Job purpose

The Quality Control Lab Technician is responsible for conducting daily analysis of incoming raw materials and finished flavor compounds to ensure compliance with company quality standards.

Duties and responsibilities

• Perform chemical and physical laboratory tests on raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products.
• Analyze and interpret test data with accuracy and reliability.
• Operate laboratory equipment (densitometers, refractometers, balances, pipettes, etc.).
• Maintain accurate laboratory records, files, and documentation in both hard copy and electronic systems.
• Enter results into spreadsheets and company databases.
• Organize and maintain the retain sample library, including annual purges.
• Maintain laboratory cleanliness and compliance with safety and quality standards.
• Communicate test results and quality concerns promptly to the Operations Manager.
• Walk between the laboratory, warehouse, and production floor to collect samples and perform quality checks.
• Collaborate with team members and assist with additional laboratory tasks as needed.

Education & Qualifications

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, or related field.
• Strong understanding of Quality Procedures, SOPs, and good laboratory practices.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Knowledge of quality concepts strongly preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Strong mathematical aptitude.
• Effective written and oral communication skills.

Working conditions

• Work performed primarily in a laboratory environment with exposure to chemicals, vapors, and laboratory equipment.
• Requires routine walking to warehouse and production floor environments.
• Protective equipment required: hair net, beard cover (as applicable), face mask (as needed), gloves, laboratory coat, safety glasses, and hearing protection (as required).
• Must follow all company safety, sanitation, and quality protocols.

Physical requirements

• Ability to stand for extended periods (up to 8 hours).
• Frequent bending, stooping, walking (including between laboratory, warehouse, and production floor), and use of hands to handle tools and laboratory equipment.
• Reaching with hands and arms, including fine motor skills for pipetting, measuring, and testing.
• Ability to occasionally lift and move up to 25 lbs.
• Adequate visual acuity, hearing, smell, and touch to detect and respond to laboratory conditions (chemical odors, alarms, equipment sounds, etc.).
