Superintendent – Healthcare Construction (Ground-Up & Interior Renovations)

Location: Rutherford, NJ

Salary: $125,000 - $165,000 (Based on Experience)

Our client is a well-established General Contractor based in Rutherford, New Jersey , specializing in complex healthcare construction projects throughout New Jersey. They are seeking an experienced Superintendent to oversee both ground-up construction and interior renovation projects within occupied and non-occupied healthcare environments.

This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on construction professional who excels at coordinating field operations, maintaining project schedules, and delivering high-quality healthcare projects while ensuring the highest standards of safety and compliance.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day field operations on ground-up and interior healthcare construction projects.
• Coordinate and supervise subcontractors, vendors, and field personnel to maintain project schedules and quality standards.
• Develop and maintain short-term look-ahead schedules in coordination with the Project Manager.
• Ensure all work is performed in accordance with contract documents, project specifications, and healthcare regulations.
• Conduct daily site inspections to monitor quality, productivity, and safety.
• Lead subcontractor coordination meetings and communicate project expectations.
• Maintain detailed daily reports documenting manpower, progress, deliveries, inspections, and jobsite activities.
• Coordinate inspections with local municipalities, healthcare facilities, and regulatory agencies.
• Review drawings and specifications, identify conflicts, and assist in resolving field issues.
• Manage punch lists and oversee project closeout activities.
• Promote and enforce OSHA safety standards and company safety policies.
• Maintain strong relationships with owners, architects, engineers, consultants, and subcontractors.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience as a Superintendent for a General Contractor.
• Proven experience managing ground-up construction and interior renovation projects.
• Healthcare construction experience is strongly preferred, including hospitals, medical offices, ambulatory surgery centers, imaging facilities, laboratories, or other healthcare environments.
• Experience working within occupied healthcare facilities while minimizing disruptions to operations.
• Strong knowledge of construction sequencing, scheduling, quality control, and safety procedures.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• OSHA 30 certification preferred.
• Proficiency with Procore, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office, or similar construction management software is preferred.
