Senior Specialist, Supply Chain Management Data & Analytics

Merck & Co.
Rahway, NJ
Job Description

Position Overview
The Senior Specialist, Data & Analytics plays a critical role in advancing data-driven decision-making across Animal Health Global Supply Chain Management (AH GSCM). This position sits at the intersection of analytics, digital supply chain systems, and operational execution-transforming complex, multi-system data into scalable insights that improve service, inventory performance, manufacturing reliability, and risk mitigation in a regulated manufacturing environment.

In this role, you will move beyond reporting to architect analytical solutions that directly influence planning parameters, supply network decisions, performance management, and continuous improvement initiatives. You will work cross-functionally with Supply Chain, Manufacturing Operations, IT, Finance, and Quality stakeholders to translate business challenges into structured data models, automated dashboards and system-integrated analytical tools that drive measurable outcomes.

This role requires both strategic thinking and tactical execution-someone who can frame the right questions, work directly within digital analytics platforms and supply chain systems, and deliver solutions that are technically robust and operationally actionable.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Analyze large, multi-source datasets (ERP, APS, TMS, WMS) to identify trends, risks, and performance improvement opportunities
  • Develop statistical models and analytics to support service levels, safety stock, forecast accuracy, lead time variability and inventory optimization
  • Design and maintain dashboards and reporting tools that support daily execution and strategic supply chain decisions
  • Establish, standardize and monitor global supply chain focused KPIs (e.g., OTIF, inventory turns, working capital, forecast accuracy)
  • Leverage SAP expertise to align analytical outputs with planning parameters and system execution
  • Partner with stakeholders to translate business challenges into structured analytical requirements and scalable solutions
  • Present insights clearly to senior leaders and operational teams to enable confident, data-driven decisions
  • Support digital supply chain initiatives by integrating analytics into APS, TMS, and WMS platforms
  • Drive continuous improvement within a regulated, manufacturing-focused environment
Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Engineering, Science, Supply Chain, Operations, or related discipline
Required Experience and Skills
  • 3-5+ years of experience in Supply Chain, Operations Analytics, Manufacturing Analytics, or related field
  • Demonstrated ability to use data to solve complex, multi-variable business problems
  • Strong working knowledge of ERP systems, particularly SAP (MRP logic, planning parameters, master data structures)
  • Familiarity with digital supply chain platforms, including APS, TMS, and WMS
  • Proficiency with analytics and visualization tools (e.g., Aera, Power BI, Spotfire) and data manipulation tools (e.g., Python, R, SQL)
  • Ability to translate complex analytical findings into clear business recommendations
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills in a cross-functional, global environment
  • Proven ability to clearly explain complex technical concepts to business leaders
  • Experience in a regulated industry and/or manufacturing environment (e.g., pharma, life sciences, medical device, food manufacturing) is preferred
Required Skills:
Adaptability, Analytics, Communication, Data Analysis, Data Analytics, Data Science, Manufacturing Environments, Problem Solving, Supply Chain Management (SCM), Work Collaboratively
