Facilities Technician 4
MalaceHR is seeking an experienced Facilities Technician with a strong background in plumbing or HVAC systems to support operations within a pharmaceutical manufacturing facility in Hopewell, New Jersey. This role requires hands-on technical skills to maintain, repair, and install building systems and equipment, ensuring the facility remains safe, reliable, and compliant with local codes and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
General Facility Maintenance
Monitor the facility to ensure it remains safe, secure, and well-maintained.
Perform general and preventive maintenance across multiple trades, including carpentry, plumbing, HVAC, and electrical systems.
Troubleshoot and repair power, HVAC controls, and mechanical systems.
Replace lighting system bulbs and ballasts as needed.
Move office furniture, machinery, and equipment as requested.
Respond promptly to service calls and emergency situations.
Plumbing Responsibilities (if applicable)
Assemble, install, and repair pipes, fittings, gas systems, and fixtures according to NJ plumbing codes.
Troubleshoot and diagnose plumbing issues, including clogged drains and malfunctioning fixtures.
Install and maintain water heaters, boilers, and other water-based heating systems.
Perform inspections of plumbing systems to ensure compliance with regulations.
HVAC Responsibilities (if applicable)
Maintain and repair air handling units, refrigeration systems, DX systems, process chillers, and comfort chillers.
Monitor and adjust chillers, cooling towers, boilers, pumps, and hot water systems.
Troubleshoot and repair HVAC-related electrical and mechanical components, including VFDs (Variable Frequency Drives).
Manage refrigerants in compliance with EPA and NJ requirements, keeping accurate records.
Install, repair, and maintain HVAC piping, valves, filters, motors, and controls.
Skills & Qualifications
Strong interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and ability to problem-solve in real time.
Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage time effectively.
Solid knowledge of tools, machines, and systems relevant to HVAC or plumbing.
Ability to read blueprints, interpret technical drawings, and follow specifications.
Familiarity with safety procedures, work permits, and Job Safety Analysis requirements.
Comfortable documenting work performed and materials used.
Education & Experience
High school diploma or GED required.
8â10 years of experience in facilities maintenance, with focus in either plumbing or HVAC.
Valid NJ plumbing license or HVAC certification preferred.
Prior experience in a regulated or pharmaceutical facility strongly preferred.
