EEG Technician – RWJBarnabas Health

As an EEG Technician, you will play an essential role in performing electroencephalogram (EEG) studies, supporting physicians with diagnostic information, and helping patients feel comfortable throughout the testing process. A typical day for an EEG Technician may include:
• Performing EEG tests as ordered by physicians while following established neurodiagnostic protocols and safety standards
• Reviewing patient medical histories, explaining testing procedures, and preparing patients for EEG examinations to promote comfort and cooperation
• Applying EEG electrodes accurately and ensuring equipment is functioning properly to obtain high-quality diagnostic recordings
• Monitoring patients throughout testing, observing for changes in condition, and documenting abnormalities or notable events during the procedure
• Recognizing technical issues and making appropriate adjustments to support accurate test results
• Maintaining accurate documentation of procedures, patient information, and testing observations to support physician interpretation
• Communicating findings and completed studies to physicians and members of the healthcare team for further evaluation and diagnosis
• Providing compassionate care to patients of varying ages while maintaining professionalism, privacy, and respect throughout the testing experience
• Maintaining equipment and following infection prevention, safety, and organizational standards to support a safe clinical environment.

To be considered for this EEG Technician opportunity, you are passionate about supporting neurological care through accurate diagnostic testing and compassionate patient service. You have a high school diploma or equivalent and are committed to obtaining board registration within one year of hire. Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required. Prior EEG Technician experience is strongly preferred. You demonstrate strong attention to detail, communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with patients, physicians, and healthcare team members in a clinical environment.
