Title: Energy Service Technician Level 4
Department: Field Operations
Reports To: Regional Manager, Service Operations

At Servist Energy, Level 4 Technicians are senior-level field experts responsible for complex system commissioning, advanced troubleshooting, and field leadership. This is a pivotal step toward mastery in system performance optimization and progression to Level 5 Master Technician or leadership roles.

Level 4 Technicians take charge of high-level diagnostics, oversee service operations, and ensure that all field personnel adhere to the highest industry standards. You will provide technical guidance to lower-level technicians, manage system commissioning efforts, and engage directly with engineering teams and manufacturers.

Key Responsibilities System Service & Technical Operations

  • Lead advanced troubleshooting, diagnostics, and root cause analysis for system-wide performance issues.
  • Commission complex PV, BESS, and EV charging infrastructure, ensuring optimal functionality.
  • Oversee breaker coordination, power factor correction, and grid-tied system optimizations.
  • Execute SCADA network integrations, inverter and BMS firmware updates, and performance analytics.
  • Develop and implement predictive maintenance strategies to improve system uptime.

Advanced Electrical Testing & Safety Compliance

  • Conduct arc flash studies, insulation resistance testing, and IV curve tracing for performance benchmarking.
  • Ensure NFPA 70E-compliant electrical safety practices, including risk mitigation for energized work.
  • Supervise and enforce OSHA, NEC (National Electrical Code), and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) compliance.
  • Utilize advanced electrical diagnostic tools, including power analyzers, IR thermal cameras, and networked monitoring solutions.

Mentorship & Team Leadership

  • Supervise and mentor Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3 Technicians, developing their technical expertise.
  • Lead on-site training sessions to ensure adherence to best practices in diagnostics and safety.
  • Serve as a primary field liaison between technicians, site managers, and engineering teams.
  • Oversee worksite operations and manage technician deployment for service calls and repairs.

Documentation & Client Communication

  • Produce comprehensive service reports, including detailed fault analysis and system performance assessments.
  • Communicate with clients, utility companies, and manufacturers to resolve escalated issues.
  • Maintain meticulous records of firmware updates, SCADA system logs, and grid integration processes.

Required Certifications & Training

  • High School Diploma/GED (or equivalent technical education)
  • OSHA 30-Hour Safety Training (must be completed within 30 days)
  • NFPA 70E Expert-Level Electrical Safety Certification
  • Completion of Level 3 Technician training requirements
  • Enrollment in the next available electrical apprenticeship program
  • First Aid & CPR Certification
  • Journeyman Electrician License (or in-progress)
  • NABCEP PV Installation Professional (PVIP) Certification

Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have, but Not Required)

  • NABCEP PV Commissioning & Maintenance Specialist (PVCMS) Certification
  • Certified Energy Storage Installation Professional (ESIP)
  • EVITP (Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Training Program) Certification
  • Experience configuring and troubleshooting Schweitzer Labs SEL relay protection systems
  • Experience with AI-based predictive maintenance and remote diagnostics
  • Advanced understanding of distributed energy resources (DERs) and microgrid integration
