Direct Support Professional - Overnight Care

Location: Hewitt, New Jersey

Part Time/Seasonal - Weekend Camps (3 weekends per year)

Jill’s House is a Christian non-profit organization and auxiliary ministry of McLean Bible Church called by God to love families raising children, adolescents, and young adults (ages 6-22) toward Jesus by providing them with short-term, overnight respite care and holistic family support services. We are currently hiring for our brand-new camp location at our New Jersey's Garden State camp. We will be serving kids with intellectual disabilities in the greater New York / New Jersey area.

We are looking to grow our Direct Support Professional staff with great people who can spend a few weekends per year caring for children with special needs so that their parents and caregivers get time to focus on renewing themselves, their families, and their marriages. Although we do not run every weekend, there are several weekends throughout the year available for you to join us (frequency varies). During our summer camps in June, we will also have weekday shifts available.

The Direct Support Professional joins us all weekend at camp from Friday to Sunday and is responsible for:

• The guidance and supervision of the children to whom they are assigned.
• Performing a combination of basic care, assistance with activities of daily living and activity guidance duties in safe, nurturing environment.

Time Commitment : Friday at 5:00PM until Sunday at 2:00PM

The Overnight Direct Support Professional at our Garden State camp would stay inside a cabin with at most 8-10 campers…

• Complete bed checks every hour
• Assist with activities of daily living- such as toileting and showers
• Ensure safety of all campers during the night
• Assist with check in on Friday night.

Minimum Requirements and Qualifications:

• Be at least 18 and be a high school graduate or GED.
• At least three months successful experience in working directly with children.
• Patience, good oral and written communication skills.
• Great team skills, willingness to learn and grow.
• Passion for working with children, physical strength and stamina to participate in camp activities.
• Affirm the McLean Bible Church Vision and Values statement as well as abide by the Standards of Christian Conduct. (see attached)
