The company is an equal employment opportunity employer. Responsibilities: We have an opportunity for a Life Sciences Insurance Trainee to join our Berkley Life Sciences team! Under the direction of the AVP, Operations Manager, you will participate in a variety of learning experiences to introduce you to the fundamentals of commercial property and casualty insurance. This will include a work assignment and on the job training as an Operations Specialist supporting the underwriting departments of the company. The training is progressive. Once you successfully complete the fundamentals, the content becomes more specific to the Berkley Life Sciences marketplace, products, services and company philosophy. W.R. This role can be based in our offices in either: Ewing, NJ or Naperville, IL The key functions include, but are not limited to: Achieve a proficiency in the technical and professional skills/knowledge of the assigned Operations Specialist position (on the job training):

• Book and issue admitted commercial lines business using both manual and automated methods.
• Interpret issuance and rating instructions from Life Science Specialists for new business, quotes, endorsements and cancellations.
• Stay current with all compliance issues, as well as procedural, system or workflow changes.
• Deliver timely and accurate quotes and policies

Achieve a proficiency in the technical and professional skills/knowledge of the assigned Life Sciences Associate position (on the job training):

• Assist Life Sciences Specialists with daily operations; research, quote and bind new and renewal business and document as per established guidelines.
• Review all new line/endorsement submissions and stay within applicable binding authority
• Drive renewal process, review upcoming renewals, work with producers to obtain and evaluate all underwriting information, prepare for renewal for the Life Sciences Specialist
• Develop information and recommendation based on account analysis
• Identify opportunities for account rounding.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree
• Knowledgeable and proficient with the Microsoft Professional products in addition to Internet search capabilities
• Exceptional oral and written communication skills, your communication style is flexible to the situation, you communicate clearly and with a purpose
• Calm under pressure, you have excellent organizational skills, integrity, and great follow-through on tasks
• Natural curiosity, you love learning how things work and you are always looking for innovative improvements
• You are open minded, looking for the best result, you treat team members with respect and value their contributions, you are inclusive and committed to working together to achieve common goals
