Project Manager – Ground-Up Mixed-Use / Multifamily Construction (NNJ)
Our client , a well-established construction firm based in Northern New Jersey, is seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee ground-up mixed-use and multifamily developments throughout Northern New Jersey .
This role requires a strong background managing complex residential projects from preconstruction through closeout, with hands-on experience navigating NJ-based building codes, consultants, municipalities, and subcontractors.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage ground-up mixed-use and multifamily projects from preconstruction through project closeout
- Oversee project schedules, budgets, subcontractor coordination, and overall project execution
- Lead subcontractor buyout, contract administration, scopes of work, and change order management
- Manage RFIs, submittals, and project documentation using Procore
- Coordinate closely with ownership, architects, engineers, and local authorities
- Conduct regular project meetings and site visits to ensure schedule, quality, and safety compliance
- Monitor cost controls, forecasting, and reporting to ensure projects remain on budget
- Ensure compliance with NJ building codes, zoning requirements, and permitting processes
- Drive projects to successful, on-time, and on-budget completion
Qualifications
- 8+ years of Project Management experience in Northern New Jersey
- Proven experience managing ground-up mixed-use and multifamily projects in NJ
- Strong knowledge of NJ construction practices, codes, and local jurisdictions
- Procore proficiency is required
- Experience managing multiple subcontractors and complex project schedules
- Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with internal teams and external partners
Preferred Experience
- Experience with mid-rise and/or large-scale multifamily developments
- Background working for a GC or construction management firm in NJ
- Strong financial and cost-reporting skills
