Description:
Open Systems Technologies is hiring an experienced Python Engineer for a financial services client based in Jersey City, New Jersey. This role focuses on designing, developing, testing, and maintaining high-performance software applications that support critical business operations in a fast-paced financial environment.

The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in backend development, particularly in Python and SQL, along with experience working in distributed systems and cloud-based architectures. This position requires a professional who can manage multiple priorities, collaborate with senior stakeholders, and contribute to the full software development lifecycle.

You will work on building scalable systems using modern technologies such as Python, SQL, C#/.NET, messaging systems, and cloud platforms like AWS or Azure, contributing to mission-critical financial applications.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, test, and maintain software applications using Python as the primary language
• Write and optimize complex SQL queries to improve performance and data handling
• Work with C#/.NET components and middleware messaging systems such as IBM MQ
• Support integration and communication between distributed systems and services
• Develop and maintain cloud-based solutions using AWS or Azure
• Participate in system design, architecture discussions, and technical planning
• Ensure high performance, scalability, and reliability of applications
• Collaborate with stakeholders and senior management to gather requirements and deliver solutions
• Manage multiple development projects with competing deadlines
• Provide ongoing application support and troubleshooting when required

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field
• 7–12 years of professional software development experience
• Strong hands-on expertise in Python programming
• Advanced knowledge of SQL, including query optimization and performance tuning
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• Experience working in collaborative, fast-paced environments

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in the financial services domain
• Familiarity with messaging systems such as IBM MQ, TIBCO, RabbitMQ, or similar
• Experience working with REST and SOAP APIs
• Knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP
• Experience in system design and software architecture

Compensation:

• Annual salary range: $150,000 – $200,000
