WHAT'S YOUR DAY LIKE?
As a Bridge Engineer - Inspector, your day is a mix of hands-on inspections and collaborative engineering work. You won't just sit behind a desk; you visit job sites, interact with a dynamic team, and use your expertise to make sure our nation's bridges are safe, sound, and strong.
Your responsibilities include:
- Working directly with company professionals, including collaborating with staff at other office locations
- Performing bridge safety inspections, working as a member of a bridge safety inspection team, and assisting higher-level inspectors
- Designing and detailing/drafting bridge and highway elements, and preparing bridge inspection reports
- Performing inspections on moving equipment at variable heights
- Applying knowledge and abilities to assist with office work, including general engineering
WHAT'S NEEDED FROM A BRIDGE ENGINEER - INSPECTOR?
We're looking for someone who can meet the following qualifications:
- Valid driver's license
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program
- 3+ years of experience, preferably with bridge inspections
- Strong communication, data management, and technical writing skills
- Proficiency in the use of computers for developing engineering calculations, spreadsheets, and report writing
Preferred Qualifications:
- Attendance of the Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges (NHI Course 130053) and/or Bridge Inspector (Team Leader) certification
- NJ PE license
- Experience with load ratings of bridges
- Experience with NJTA or NJDOT inspections
- Proficiency with MicroStation
