Position Overview

Responsible for preparation and processing of the bi-weekly US and Canada payroll. To ensure the efficient, effective and accurate payments of employees for a multi-state/province payroll. Maintains thorough knowledge of Ralph Lauren payroll policies and procedures.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Major Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Perform daily operations including monitoring and responding to emails, organizing correspondence, reviewing and assisting in all data keyed, submitted and processed within the Payroll department
  • Monitor the flow of data into the payroll systems from other automated systems and escalate errors to appropriate business partners. Ensure all transactions are consistent with policy. Contact HR regarding variances or questionable circumstances
  • Process manual payments/reversals, special payments such as bonuses, vacation, final pay, LOA and severance data
  • Work closely with Payroll vendors to assist in inquiries, audit and validations on all payroll processes for US and Canada
  • Understand proper taxation of employer paid benefits
  • Knowledge of Federal, Local, and Multi-State Compliance
  • Assist with reconciling monthly payroll GL accounts for US and Canada
  • Work with unemployment vendor (Equifax) in the process of unemployment wage requests
  • Interact with ADP on garnishment process and assist with inquiries from branches, federal/state/local agencies as it relates to garnishment processing. Comply with laws governing the administration of garnishments and minimize risk to the business
  • Review wage and tax registers and assist management and Tax area in the quarter end and yearend processes. Aid in the process/validation of stock, imputed income, adjustments and unclaimed wages
  • Respond appropriately and provide verbal and / or written responses to inquiries from all levels of staff regarding payroll/HR processes, policies and procedures in a timely and professional manner

Experience, Skills & Knowledge

Qualifications & Education:

  • 3+ years experience processing multi-state payroll
  • Strong knowledge of payroll best practices, Federal and State regulations
  • Strong computer skills including proficiency in Excel – V look up a plus.
  • ADP or comparable payroll software experience for a multi-state payroll; ADP EV6 & WFN a Plus
  • High degree of professionalism, work ethic and confidentiality
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required
  • Problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritizing skills.
  • FPC accreditation preferred
