Technical Sales Engineer – CNC Machine Tools - Alta Enterprises

Position Summary

We are seeking a motivated Technical Sales Engineer to grow our CNC machine tool business. This role combines manufacturing expertise and consultative sales to help manufacturers improve productivity through advanced machining technologies.

The successful candidate will work closely with manufacturers to evaluate machining challenges and recommend solutions including CNC machining centers, turning systems, and automated manufacturing solutions .

This position is ideal for a machinist, CNC programmer, manufacturing engineer, or applications specialist looking to transition into technical sales , or an experienced sales engineer in the machine tool industry.

Key Responsibilities

Territory Sales Development

• Develop and manage relationships with manufacturing companies throughout New Jersey.
• Identify new business opportunities within industries such as aerospace, defense, medical device, semiconductor, and precision manufacturing.
• Maintain an active sales pipeline and meet territory revenue goals.

Technical Sales & Consulting

• Evaluate customer machining processes and production challenges.
• Recommend CNC machining solutions including:
• • Vertical and horizontal machining centers
  • Multi-axis machining systems
  • CNC turning centers
  • Automation and palletized manufacturing systems
• Deliver technical presentations and machine demonstrations.

Proposal Development

• Prepare detailed proposals and quotations for capital equipment purchases.
• Work with applications engineers to develop machining strategies and cycle time improvements.
• Assist customers with machine selection, tooling strategies, and process optimization.

Customer Support

• Support machine installations and coordinate training for customers.
• Provide ongoing account management to ensure customer satisfaction and repeat business.

Qualifications

Required

• 3–10+ years experience in one of the following:
• • CNC machining
  • CNC programming
  • Manufacturing engineering
  • Machine tool sales
• Strong understanding of machining processes and CNC technology
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
• Willingness to travel throughout New Jersey (50–70%)

Preferred

• Experience selling CNC machine tools or manufacturing technology
• Familiarity with CAM software and multi-axis machining
• Experience with automation systems or production cells
