SUMMARY
The Inventory Manager oversees the efficient and accurate management of inventory and support functions for the fulfillment of prescription orders in our pharmacy. As an Inventory Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of medication processing with automation technology, inventory management, and quality control within the pharmacy while ensuring regulatory compliance.. This position works directly under the Pharmacist in charge with joint direction from the MedWiz Management Inventory and Purchasing team.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Team Management:
- Foster a positive work environment that encourages collaboration, productivity, and accountability among all departments including Clinical, IV, and Logistics.
- Provide leadership, constructive feedback, and direction management to the receiving,, inventory, returns, DOSIS, and prepack teams to ensure adherence to the company policies, procedures and Metrics That Matter.
2. Prescription Order Fulfillment
- Oversee the efficient processing and fulfillment of prescription orders ensuring timely and accurate dispensing including but not limited to:
- Maintain all products in the pharmacy in a neat, well-organized, and date sorted order in the proper locations.
- Provide guidance to the DOSIS automation teams to operate fulfillment machines at highest efficiency possible
- Direct and manage the prepack team on the pre-production of medication cards not able to be automated via DOSIS Assist Pharmacy Management team in meeting Metrics that Matter goals.
- Ensure the Inventory Manager has continual communication with the Purchasing team regarding any Owes, out of stock items, or issues.
- Deliveries are sorted, received, and distributed/delivered efficiently and proactively
- Ensure the inventory manager is monitoring the Inventory Dashboard for order processing, inventory turnover, Owes and customer satisfaction, initiating corrective actions when necessary to ensure key performance indicators (KPIs) are met or exceeded.
- Implement and maintain quality control measures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and minimize errors.
3 .Inventory Management:
- Own and manage the Assigned Counts for the Inventory Recount Tool to maintain inventory control and to ensure an accurate and adequate supply of medications and pharmaceutical supplies.
- Direct and lead receiving team to manage intake of daily wholesale medication deliveries.
- Monitor stock levels, anticipate demand, and collaborate with the Purchasing Team, departments including Clinical, IV, and Logistic to ensure timely replenishment.
- Communicate with Divisional Purchasing Manager regarding inventory concerns, or procedural questions.
- Implement best practices for proper storage, handling, and disposal of pharmaceutical products to maintain quality and safety standards.
- Work with the Inventory Specialist, to ensure Brand Returns for unused medications are returned to suppliers for credit.
- Ensure Customer Returns are processed and placed back into inventory in an accurate and timely manner.
- Oversee all Product Recalls when notifications are received by ensuring:
- Product is quarantined
- Pharmacists, staff/key personnel are notified
- Instructions on recall are followed for credit/return by supplier
4. Regulatory Compliance:
- Stay updated on industry regulations, including state and federal pharmacy laws, and ensure compliance in all fulfillment activities.
- Enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs) and safety protocols to maintain compliance with regulatory agencies, such as the FDA and DEA.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy, Healthcare Administration, or a related field (preferred).
- Current pharmacy technician license required or relevant certifications preferred but not required (e.g., PTCB). If not currently licensed, but be able to obtain with three to six months.
- Proven experience in pharmacy operations, with at least 3-5 years relevant experience.
- Experience managing small production teams
- Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical products, drug interactions, and dispensing procedures.
- Familiarity with pharmacy management software and inventory control systems.
- Exceptional organizational and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail.
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with healthcare professionals, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
- Understanding of regulatory compliance in pharmacy operations.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Able to lift over 50lbs
- Schedule/shift expectations are based on business needs but are anywhere between 7am-6pm, with weekends possible.
This role must also perform other duties as required or assigned, which are reasonably within the scope of the duties in this job classification.
