Job Title: Plumber Mechanic

Job Description

Direct the installation of plumbing and related systems, equipment, and fixtures. This role involves planning, laying out, participating in, and supervising plumbing work on job sites and in the shop. The position requires a high degree of independence, except in large construction and modification projects where technical supervision is provided. Assignments are received via Teams Construction software, written job requests, or emergency calls. Work is evaluated primarily by users of equipment and systems through observation and conferences during and after project completion. Construction and remodeling work is reviewed for compliance with specifications and building codes.

Responsibilities

• Plan and lay out plumbing work from blueprints, rough plans, sketches, and drawings.
• Supervise plumbing tasks on job sites and in the shop.
• Direct the installation of plumbing systems, equipment, and fixtures.
• Collaborate on large construction and modification projects under some technical supervision.
• Work with independence, receiving assignments via Teams Construction software, written job requests, and emergency calls.
• Ensure compliance with specifications and building codes.
• Run storm or sanitary systems with helpers.

Essential Skills

• Thorough knowledge of plumbing trade practices, methods, materials, tools, and equipment.
• Ability to analyze defects in plumbing equipment and determine necessary repairs.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints.
• Experience with cast iron and PVC installations.
• Skill in using hand tools for plumbing tasks.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with cast iron plumbing is highly desirable.
• Ability to lay out and mark plumbing work accurately.
• Experience with water and temporary water lines.

Work Environment

Work as part of a team of plumbing mechanics and junior mechanics on various construction projects throughout NJ. The role involves working under general direction and supervision on site, ensuring a collaborative and supportive environment.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $35.00/hr.
