Kering Senior Manager, Indirect Tax
This role will be responsible for all indirect tax matters for the U.S., Canada, and Puerto Rico, including but not limited to sales/use tax, property tax, business licenses, unclaimed property, and business registrations. You will be a critical member of the Tax team, reporting to the Director, Tax. - Building and maintaining a best-in-class Indirect Tax function
- This position provides a unique opportunity to build and further enhance processes and infrastructure relating to the recent implementation of SAP.
- Establish key relationships with business partners across Kering and the brand finance and legal teams
- Maintain and enhance the sales and use, property, escheat & other indirect tax compliance processes
- Review and manage tax exemption and resale certificates
- Manage and oversee a team of seven or eight people, ensuring timely filing of all returns and proper workpaper documentation for audit support
- Coordinate, manage and prepare responses to tax authorities on audit, as well as preparing responses to notices
- Have an in-depth understanding of end-to-end system, process, accounting and controls for all sales tax collection, payment and recovery systems
- Research and analysis of indirect tax issues
- Highlight and remediate issues and bring forward resolution plans to senior leadership
- Manage the Tax Calendar, including the tracking of electronic payments and checks
- Assist with indirect tax due diligence on new business initiatives, M&A, contract reviews, legislative analyses, implementation of tax technology and general technical indirect tax questions
- Promote indirect tax awareness and knowledge including training and liaising with business partners
- Propose recommendations for changes to policies, procedures and systems as needed to improve internal controls, tax minimization, integrity of financial information and departmental efficiencies
- Bachelor's degree in accounting
- 10+ years of tax experience in an accounting firm or corporate tax department, managing several direct reports
- In-depth knowledge of indirect taxation in US and Canada with experience in marketplace facilitator laws and economic nexus
- Excellent computer and communication skills, including the ability to simplify complex concepts to management and non-tax practitioners
- Comfortable as a "hands-on" manager and willing to roll up your sleeves to get things done
- Strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills with the ability to commit and push through decisions
- Ability to adjust rapidly to changing demands and priorities
