Position Overview:

This position is responsible for performing a variety of skilled and semi-skilled tasks related to the maintenance and upkeep of all building systems. Key responsibilities include the installation of new equipment, relocation of existing equipment, and the distribution of plant utilities to and from all machinery. The role also involves general upkeep of both office areas and the production floor.

This position places a strong emphasis on plumbing skills. The ideal candidate must be proficient in solvent welding Schedule 40-80 PVC/CPVC pipe connections, which are essential for installing and relocating both large and small CNC equipment.

The Facilities Mechanic will be expected to work on-site five days a week in our Somerset, NJ office.

Key Responsibilities:

• Meet with Facilities supervisor daily to coordinate work requirements.
• Work with the facilities team to manage the daily facilities operations of the property and buildings as requested by the facilities supervisor and Facilities Director.
• Identify building maintenance needs, prioritize work and take corrective actions as needed.
• Perform a full range of skilled building maintenance for extended periods of time.
• Perform Skilled labor facilities related work including but not limited to Plumbing, Industrial mechanics, Minor electrical, Minor HVAC, Rigging, Equipment transporting, Grinding, Machining, Minor carpentry, Demo work, Etc.
• The ability to Install new / Relocated existing equipment of many different types in and out of high traffic production lines, in a timely manner, with minimal down time, as safely as possible, in a high paced work environment. Utilizing Forklifts, Pallet jacks, Transport dollies, Physical labor etc.
• Work including but not limited to, all utilities hook ups in ceiling for water feed, coolant lines to and from central coolant system, vacuum lines, exhaust piping, and drain connections.
• Perform repairs and maintenance according to all OSHA and other safety requirements, ie: lockout/tagout procedures.
• Read and interpret sketches, diagrams and blueprints.
• Actively participate in the positive development of other facilities maintenance team and the development of technical knowledge of the team.
• As required, will assist in the installation of new equipment, facility upgrades, perform repair work as needed, support production, assemble office furniture, relocate office employees, hang signs, install cabinets, move desks, repair facets, clear clogged drains, maintain grounds, Clean spills, etc.
• Continuously Inspect property and buildings for safety issues and take immediate corrective action when necessary.

Other Important Responsibilities:

• Fill in for janitor/custodial functions, when necessary.
• Source parts for repairs and install work as needed.
• Coordinate with external service providers for equipment and facilities repair, when required.
• Timely Corrective Action response and resolution to relevant situations.
• Engage and support companywide Safety and Cleanliness Programs.
• As part of the EMS- Environment Management System, will meet compliance obligations and accountability by contributing but not limited to the company's recycling guidelines, proper waste and other environmental performance practices.
• Will be required to perform other job functions, as assigned

Qualifications:

• A minimum of 7 years of Maintenance Experience. Including methods, practices and equipment used in facilities management and activities, including a variety of building trades work.
• High School Graduate required. College or Trade School preferred.
• Electrical, Mechanical, Welding, Electro-Mechanical and equipment training, a plus.
• Knowledge of tools and equipment used in building maintenance, reconstruction and repair work.
• Experience with a virtual work order and spare parts management system preferred.
• Strong analytical skills.
• Task oriented excellent organizational skills, ability to prioritize work load.
• Enthusiastic attitude, cooperative team player, adaptable to new or changing circumstances, professional demeanor, self-motivated, creative and innovative

Physical requirements and work environment:

• Must be able to lift 70 lbs
• Must be able to sustain physical work for 8+ hours on a standard 3 shift operation or 12+ hours per day on 24/7 operation. Also includes the following:
  • Standing
  • Reaching and pulling
  • Sight
  • Walking through shop
  • Bending, climbing and crouching.
• Office environment is of moderate noise level.
• Shop noise levels are such that protective ear-coverings are recommended.
• Sometimes subject to external weather conditions.
• Short notice, overtime demand according to equipment or facility breakdowns.
• Repair work on heavy equipment often in a seated or standing position.
• Grease, oil, water exposure.
