:Underwriting Technician - Credit & Structured Products Group
The division is looking for an analytical and commercially aware Underwriting Technician in the tri-state area to become part of an experienced and fast-growing International Credit & Structured Products division. With international team presence, we offer an energetic and empowering culture, presenting a great opportunity for a driven Underwriting Technician with a minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role within the insurance industry. The team originates, underwrites and binds policies, programs and works with both insurance and reinsurance transactions.
What you will do:
The Underwriting Technician (UT) will primarily be required to support the underwriting team with policy and program execution, as well as ongoing administration and operational support for these transactions. The UT will have frequent dialogue with a variety of internal areas of the company, as well as external brokers and insureds, whereby timely responses and maintaining relationships are key. The successful candidate will also help to service our existing book of business and to develop new business opportunities.- Owning the processing of submissions, bound policies and endorsements, in support of the underwriters.
- Managing all administrative and operational functions for the underwriting team
- Proactively monitoring ongoing administration of all transactions, ensuring prompt response and recording of any program changes, receipt and review of all bordereaux and timely distribution of program reports. Work closely with the group's Operations team to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Take ownership of the divisional files to ensure positive outcomes of audits
- Develop reports and presentations required for internal and external constituents
- The UT will participate in team underwriting calls to ensure prompt underwriting responses.
- Manage internal communication and approvals required to proceed with transactions and execute appropriately for underwriters. This will include accounting, finance operations and systems issues involved.
- Ensure the timely and proper execution of deals: liaise with Operations, Actuarial and Finance & Accounting to ensure proper billing, reserving and monitoring of premium and claims.
- Receive and manage premium, exposure and claims reporting requirements on transactions. Receive and monitor reports; forward to all necessary divisions. Respond to any questions on these reports and follow through on required steps triggered by the reports.
- Be the subject matter expert regarding the group's products, in order to:
- Respond to internal questions on the business from Accounting, Finance, Actuarial, Claims;
- Brainstorm and test efficiencies and improvements to workflows;
- Work all required groups to ensure quality and consistent work when new products launch, transition books of business or new acquisitions. This includes providing training and implementing changes to workflows and processes, to impacted staff.
What you will bring to C&F:
- Good knowledge of specialty insurance, specifically Credit & Political Risk insurance preferable.
- Bachelor's degree preferred with at least 2+ years working experience in the insurance sector.
- Self-motivated, confident person comfortable reaching out to and utilizing external and internal resources and contacts, advocating for the business unit.
- Ability to organize several projects at once and quickly move from one project to the next throughout the day
- Flexible and open to an ever changing, fast paced environment
- Ability to follow protocol with an emphasis on quality and customer service
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Zoom, Teams.
