The Fitness Center/Gym Monitor supports a welcoming, safe, and inclusive environment for PCCC students, faculty, and staff using the College's fitness and recreation facilities. This role oversees day-to-day floor coverage, enforces policies and procedures, assists patrons with equipment use, and helps maintain clean, organized spaces that reflect PCCC's commitment to student wellness and Panther Pride.
This is a part-time, hourly position.
Example of Duties:
- Greet patrons, verify eligibility/access using ID swipe, and provide excellent customer service. Assist with questions and facility procedures.
- Monitor activity on the fitness floor, courts, and surrounding areas to ensure safe operations and adherence to guidelines. Respond to incidents and complete required reports.
- Demonstrate safe operation of equipment, observe for misuse, and report malfunctions. Maintain cleanliness and organization of equipment and workout areas.
- Collaborate with Athletic Director and IT to obtain reports on facility usage by patrons, support events, manage supplies and perform opening/closing procedures.
- Assist Athletics staff with game day responsibilities such as facility setup and breakdown, crowd flow support, score table assistance as assigned, and general event operations tasks.
Qualifications :
- Must be 18 years or older.
- Strong customer services and communication skills.
- Ability to stand/move for extended periods and lift up to 45 lbs.
- CPR/AED & First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain within 30-60 days).
- Experience in gym, recreation, athletics, or customer service settings.
- Commitment to the mission and policies of Passaic County Community College.
The completion of a background check will be required for the selected candidate.
Compensation: Compensation is determined by a variety of criteria, including but not limited to, previous relevant experience, education level, and certifications. The minimum hourly pay for this position is $15.92.
