Medical Assistant
Certified Medical Assistant
Under direct supervision, the Certified Medical Assistant will assist physicians and clinicians with patient care duties in a clinical environment. This role involves performing clinic support tasks, including clerical duties, answering phones, and maintaining the physician's schedule. The primary responsibility for this contractor will be patient charting. The position also supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, including the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.
Responsibilities
- Assist with patient charting.
- Escort patients to and from exam rooms, physician offices, and treatment rooms as appropriate.
- Record patient data prior to each physician visit, including vital signs, height, weight, allergies, and medication changes.
- Obtain all necessary patient records as required by the physician prior to treatment or procedures.
- Prepare and stock exam/treatment rooms and order supplies as needed.
- Maintain all exam/treatment room disinfection protocols.
- Answer patient telephone calls for referral to a physician or nurse/pharmacist.
- Phone in prescriptions and make other patient calls as directed by physicians and registered nurses.
- Inform physicians of patient reschedules and no-shows.
- Perform other administrative duties, such as typing, filing, faxing, chart preparation, and reception, as requested by a supervisor or physician.
- May enter orders under a provider's direction and supervision.

Additional Skills & Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Graduation from an accredited program for Medical Assistants preferred.
- Entry-level position requiring 0-3 years of experience as a medical assistant or nursing assistant.
- Current BCLS certification required within 3 months of hire.
- Certified Medical Assistant preferred.
- Some state regulations may require specific certifications to work as a Medical Assistant.
Work Environment
The work environment is clinical and involves working closely with physicians and other healthcare providers. The position requires adherence to safety and health protocols, including maintaining disinfection protocols in exam and treatment rooms. The role may involve shifts that require flexibility in scheduling.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $23.00/hr.
