Groundskeeper

**Job Title: Groundskeeper** **Job Description** As a Groundskeeper, you will be responsible for maintaining the aesthetic and functional quality of the campus grounds. This includes tasks such as grass cutting, trimming, edging, trash and recycling removal, leaf removal, weeding, fertilizing, liming, pruning, mulching, deadheading, and watering. You will also plant flowers, shrubs, and trees as needed, and manage topsoil installations, grading, and lawn establishment from seed and sod. Additionally, you will operate power equipment and perform snow removal duties and installations of various grounds-related items. **Responsibilities** + Perform general maintenance of grounds including grass cutting, trimming, and edging. + Remove trash and recycling, and handle leaf removal and weeding. + Fertilize, lime, prune, mulch, deadhead, and water plants. + Plant flowers, shrubs, and trees as required. + Conduct topsoil installations, rough and fine grading, and establish lawns from seed and sod. + Operate walk-behind power equipment like tractors, lawnmowers, and trimmers. + Perform snow removal using shovels, blowers, and snow vehicles/plows. + Install and maintain items such as street signs, poles, parking bumpers, and trash containers. + Erect and dismantle bleachers, chairs, platforms, and lecture hall equipment for events. **Essential Skills** + Experience in cleaning, landscaping, and janitorial duties. + Proficiency in operating landscaping equipment. + Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. + Capability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and occasionally indoors. **Additional Skills & Qualifications** + Experience in cleaning parking decks and lots. + Housekeeping skills. **Why Work Here?** Enjoy the benefits of working at a state company with excellent long-term benefits. This position requires work outdoors in varying weather conditions as well as occasional indoor tasks. **Job Type & Location** This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Newark, NJ. **Pay and Benefits** The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $17.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
