Union Diesel Mechanic

PRS Auto is seeking a safety-conscious Mechanic at the Norfolk Southern Doremus, NJ Rail Terminal auto facility in a recession-proof industry! This operation is responsible for unloading new automobiles off of railcars.
You will be employed directly through PRS Auto and will not be an employee of the railroad.

This is a 24/7/365 operation. This role is a full-time salary position working non-standard hours that may include nights, weekends, and holidays as required by the Customer. Occasionally, the role can require extended work hours, including being on call as needed.

• Should have a minimum of 2 years of experience in the mechanical field and be preventative maintenance minded.
• Must have own tools (Yearly tool allowance provided).
• Must have experience and knowledge working with Air, Electrical, Hydraulic, and Diesel systems and components.
• Will need a valid driver's license.

Primary Responsibilities :

• Diagnose and Repair Buck Ramps (Automobile railcar unloader ramps)
• Preventive Maintenance.
• Welding, fabricating.
• Working on gasoline engines, diesel engines, hydraulics, & Electrical components.
• Assist in other areas as needed by managers.

Requirements:

• Must have verifiable mechanical experience.
• Candidates must undergo a background check.
• Must be able to pass a physical strength test.
• Drug screening.
• Required to join local union.

In addition, working on and around rail equipment and automobiles may be dangerous if not handled safely concerning the job functions. Understanding the work hazards and being able to work safely is imperative for this position.
