Job Summary of the Painter
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Painter to join our maintenance team at a luxury apartment community in Jersey City, NJ. This role is responsible for maintaining the appearance and condition of common areas and residential units through high-quality painting, surface preparation, and cosmetic repairs.
In addition to painting responsibilities, the Painter will assist with general common-area upkeep tasks such as light fixture cleaning, replacing ceiling tiles, minor repairs, and exterior maintenance projects. The ideal candidate takes pride in their work, demonstrates strong attention to detail, and maintains a clean and organized workspace.
This position follows a Monday–Friday schedule .
Key Responsibilities of the Painter
Painting & Surface Preparation
Perform painting, patching, and touch-ups in common areas including hallways, lobbies, amenity spaces, and other shared areas.
Complete interior painting in residential units as needed.
Properly prepare surfaces for painting, including spackling, sanding, priming, caulking, masking, and taping.
Use appropriate techniques to ensure clean, professional finishes.
Protect surrounding surfaces using drop cloths and coverings and ensure all paint is properly cleaned from floors and adjacent surfaces.
Exterior Painting & Property Upkeep
Perform exterior painting projects including stairs, handrails, doors, and other building components.
Assist with pressure washing and other exterior maintenance tasks as needed.
Common Area Maintenance
Perform general common-area repairs and cosmetic maintenance, including:
Replacing light bulbs
Cleaning light fixtures
Polishing elevator metal and surfaces
Replacing ceiling tiles
Completing minor cosmetic repairs
Apartment Turnovers
Assist with apartment turnovers by completing painting touch-ups and minor wall repairs to ensure units are move-in ready.
Work Order Completion
Respond to and complete assigned work orders in a timely and professional manner.
Workspace Organization & Safety
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
Properly store tools, equipment, and materials after use.
Qualifications of the Painter
1+ year of painting experience, preferably in multifamily residential, hospitality, or commercial environments
Proficiency using painting tools and equipment including brushes, rollers, and sprayers
Strong attention to detail and ability to produce clean, consistent finishes
Knowledge of paint types, finishes, and preparation techniques
Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in apartment communities or similar residential environments
Basic knowledge of drywall repair, patching, and minor carpentry
Familiarity with general building or property maintenance
