The Commissary Product Selector plays a vital role in our Commissary kitchen, collaborating closely with the Operations team to select and pack Child Feeding products tailored for daily delivery. In addition to this essential task, you will also assist the production kitchen in creating delicious, high-quality meals for our diverse programs, adhering to our recipes, production procedures, and safety protocols.

What you’ll do in your role

  • Fosters a positive work environment by engaging in communication and actions that promote constructive interpersonal relationships with customers, the public, colleagues, and management, in alignment with the principles of CFBNJ’s mission.
  • Demonstrates exceptional customer service abilities along with a positive attitude and a strong work ethic.
  • Ensures the accurate and timely selection of all orders by identifying products and transporting them to staging or loading areas, confirming that all staged items are packed and verified for accuracy.
  • Assists in the receipt of ordered food products and supplies from external vendors for the Foodbank, subsequently relocating them to the designated staging and storage areas.
  • Participates in the execution of daily, weekly, and monthly inventories for Child Feeding, Trinitas, and community impact meals.
  • Maintains the daily cleanliness and organization of dry and cold storage areas in compliance with ServSafe food safety standards.
  • Creates an educational atmosphere for students participating in the program and volunteers assisting in the staging areas.
  • Possesses the ability to operate a variety of cooking and packaging equipment to meet production needs.
  • Prepares ingredients by adhering to recipes, which includes slicing, cutting, chopping, mincing, stirring, whipping, and mixing; adjusting seasonings; verifying taste; and packaging meals accordingly.
  • Responsible for monitoring the quality of food throughout the production process.

What you’ll need to be successful in this role :

  • Possession of a ServSafe® certification or an equivalent program in safe food handling, or a demonstrated commitment to obtain such certification.
  • Demonstrated capability to effectively manage multiple tasks while functioning both independently and collaboratively within a team setting.
  • Experience in food handling and food inventory management, showcasing strong organizational skills.
  • Outstanding interpersonal, organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills; a high level of energy and adaptability are essential.
  • Ability to operate a pallet jack.

Pay Transparency : The salary range for this position is an hourly rate of $21.00-$28.41. The final rate may be influenced by factors such as the position's scope and responsibilities, work experience, training, job-related skills, internal equity, and market conditions.
