About the Role:

The Alcohol and Drug Counselor plays a crucial role in supporting individuals struggling with substance use disorders by providing comprehensive counseling and treatment services. This position is focused on helping clients develop coping strategies, understand the impact of addiction, and work towards recovery goals. Counselors will conduct assessments, create personalized treatment plans, and facilitate group and individual therapy sessions. The ultimate aim is to empower clients to achieve and maintain sobriety while improving their overall quality of life. By fostering a supportive and non-judgmental environment, the counselor will help clients navigate their recovery journey effectively.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, or a related field.
• Certification or licensure as a substance abuse counselor or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master's degree in counseling, social work, or a related field.
• Experience working in a clinical setting with individuals facing substance use disorders.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct thorough assessments of clients to determine their substance use history and treatment needs.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans that address the specific needs and goals of each client.
• Facilitate individual and group counseling sessions to provide support, education, and coping strategies.
• Monitor client progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary to ensure effective outcomes.
• Collaborate with other healthcare professionals and community resources to provide comprehensive care and support.

Skills:

The required skills in substance use disorders and substance abuse prevention are essential for effectively assessing and treating clients. Counselors will utilize their knowledge to develop evidence-based treatment plans tailored to each individual's needs. Strong communication skills are necessary for facilitating therapy sessions and building rapport with clients. Additionally, the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams enhances the support network available to clients.
