Job Overview:
The Registered Nurse provides nursing care in the health care system within the scope of practice defined by the Nurse Practice Act and regulatory standards. The registered nurse assures safety in practice by maintaining a realization of own individual level of knowledge and experience and assumes responsibility for advancing knowledge and experience and assumes responsibility for knowledge of self and others in the patient care team through communication with team members and collaboration. Responsible for consistent evaluation, understands principles of growth and development to assess each patient's age-specific needs. Utilizes the nursing process to integrate all aspects of patient care using appropriate intervention with measurable outcomes toward improvement. Coordinates and directs the activities of the Nursing Care and practice in the Breast Center.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Minimum 5 years' clinical experience
- Available to cover all shifts, including weekend coverage if necessary
- Successful completion of all Orientation Programs
Preferred:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing
- Prior Radiology experience
Certifications and Licenses Required:
- Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of NJ
- BLS from the American Heart Association
- ACLS certification
- PALS certification
- IV certification
Scheduling Requirements:
- FT
- Day shift
- 37.5 hours weekly
Essential Functions:
- Completes all documentation such as history, education forms, and verbal orders in a timely, complete, and efficient manner
- Ensures proper medical history and accurate patient demographics and medical information is collected
- Maintains a neat, clean and stocked work area
- Maintains positive communication channels, providing feedback to supervisor when appropriate
- Maintains the standards of nursing care which are evidence-based and outcome-driven, and implements the policies and procedures of the ACC
- Participates in Performance Improvement initiatives and completes assignments
- Performs evaluation assessment and reassessment of patients according to applicable department standards in all assigned areas utilizing designated tools/systems
- Provides psychosocial and physical needs for the patient during the prep and procedure
- Staff adjust scheduling to the needs and demands of the department,
- Flexibility and willingness to cover all shifts
- Transmits pertinent patient information to appropriate individual
- Utilizes the nursing process with a multidisciplinary approach in the delivery of patient care
- Provides a compassionate and supportive environment with prompt and consistent service
- Adheres to patient rights provides for the confidential treatment of all communications and records
- Demonstrates professionalism with families, visitors, physicians, co-workers and supervisors
- Listens and communicates effectively
- Supports teamwork by cooperative problem-solving through participation in meetings, projects, etc.
- Utilizes principles of continuous quality improvement in all work situations to assess, measure and improve organizational and department functions
- Organizes work, sets priorities with a minimum of supervision and seeks guidance as appropriate
- Makes decisions that are timely and consistent with department's objectives, policies and procedures
- Demonstrates sound judgment; accepts and benefits from constructive criticism
- Participates in ongoing education as required
