The Fabrication Shop Planner plays a key role in ensuring that fabrication operations run efficiently and on schedule. This position is responsible for building and maintaining production schedules, coordinating with multiple departments, and keeping work flowing smoothly through fabrication work cells. It’s an ideal role for someone who is analytical, organized, and comfortable working independently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain detailed production schedules for fabrication operations.
• Sequence and prioritize fabrication jobs based on capacity, material availability, and customer due dates.
• Balance workload across fabrication work cells to optimize throughput and minimize bottlenecks.
• Adjust schedules in real time to respond to changing priorities, equipment issues, or material delays.
• Collaborate closely with Engineering, Operations, and Purchasing to ensure job readiness and material flow.
• Utilize ERP systems to manage work orders, track progress, and maintain accurate production data.
• Build and analyze reports using Excel and other tools to support planning decisions.
• Apply knowledge of fabrication processes to improve scheduling accuracy and workflow efficiency.
• Work independently while managing multiple priorities and deadlines.

Qualifications

• Experience with ERP systems in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, and data analysis.
• Solid analytical and problem‐solving abilities.
• Understanding of fabrication processes (cutting, forming, welding, machining, etc.) is a plus.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate across departments.
• Ability to work independently with strong attention to detail and organization.
