Transportation Department Manager

Our client is seeking a growth-oriented Highway (Civil) Department Manager to lead transportation projects and drive departmental growth at our Princeton, NJ office. With a strong focus on project execution, leadership, and client collaboration, this is a high-impact role for a licensed civil engineer with deep experience in highway design.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and execute a wide range of transportation and highway design projects
 - Provide engineering oversight and mentoring for junior and mid-level design staff
 - Lead client interactions, including project scoping, status meetings, and regulatory discussions
 - Ensure design compliance with NJDOT and NJTA standards and procedures
 - Contribute to proposals and business development activities
 - Collaborate with office and regional leadership on strategic teaming and innovative solutions
 - Maintain high standards for quality control, project delivery, and financial performance
 
Minimum Qualifications:
- 20+ years of Highway Design experience
 - Bachelors in Civil Engineering (Masters may substitute for 2 years experience)
 - P.E. license in New Jersey required ; NY license a plus
 - Strong written and verbal communication skills, including proposal writing and presentations
 - Proven project leadership and mentoring capabilities
 
Preferred Traits:
- Familiarity with NJDOT and NJTA protocols
 - Client-focused mindset with strong problem-solving skills
 - Committed to developing future engineering talent
