The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.

Job Overview:

The secretary coordinates activities at the front desk/reception area of the outpatient infusion department.

Qualifications:

Required:

• High school graduate or equivalent

Preferred:

• Previous experience in a medical office
• Pre-certification experience

Scheduling Requirements:

• Full Time Day
• Monday - Friday
• 8:30am – 5pm

Essential Functions:

• Interacts effectively with the medical providers and all team members
• Registers patients, reviews patient insurance plans, maintains accurate records in regarding referral, office visits
• Answers phones professionally, records messages and forwards calls to appropriate party, reschedule and schedules appointments timely
• Files patient information in a timely fashion
• Identifies and addresses patient satisfactions issues; directs efforts toward improving patient satisfaction scores
• Acknowledges patients and families at front desk immediately
• Schedules appointments for office visits and for procedures as required
• Prepares charts in accordance with the office standards for daily appointments
• Maintains orderly and systemic filing of patient documentation/records in a timely fashion
• Registers patients as required fully completing all of the registration procedures
• Assists with the reconciliation of accounts at the end of the month allowing for ease of process through the coding and billing departments
• Maintains accurate information on patient s insurance plans in regard to referral, authorization for radiation therapy, office visits, and procedures
• Demonstrates initiative and motivation in role; proactively addresses issues; identifies and resolves problems in an appropriate manner

• Is flexible and responsive toward needs of department and assists in every way to meet patient care needs
• Actively assist in the orientation and preceptorship of new employees
• Interacts with patients and families in an empathetic, caring manner; acts as patient advocate
• Work collaboratively with all healthcare professionals
• Demonstrates telephone courtesy and initiative in addressing concerns of caller
• Front desk is organized, medical records are in proper location; patient confidentiality consistently maintained
• Attends 100 of quarterly hospital-wide staff meetings and 80 of unit-based staff meetings,
• Assists in the throughput of patients within the department
• Reflects commitment to building a supportive work environment and maintains a positive attitude at the workplace and toward the job
• Scans in house bills encounter forms and daily schedule to billing office daily
• Obtaining and documenting pre-certifications in chart for tests/procedures ordered by physicians in a timely manner
• Collects co-payments, deductible, and/or coinsurance from patients as required by the insurance company at time of visit
• Accurately enters charges for patient visits into system on a daily basis
