Our client, a successful financial technology and services company, is currently seeking an experienced Corporate In-House Counsel for their central NJ office. The individual selected for this role will be entrusted with the critical task of safeguarding the company's interests, ensuring regulatory compliance, and mitigating legal risks. The ideal candidate will be a highly skilled legal professional with a strategic mindset, exceptional problem-solving abilities, and adept communication skills. The position reports to the CEO of the Company and will have a seat on the Senior Management Committee.
Responsibilities:
- Provide legal advice and guidance to the executive team and other departments.
- Draft, review, and negotiate client and vendor contracts and other legal documents.
- Represent the company to outside counsel and participate in arbitration and other legal proceedings.
- Collaborate with Company Compliance to ensure that the company complies with all applicable laws and regulations by regulatory bodies.
- Conduct legal research and keep up to date with changes in legislation and regulations.
- Manage external legal counsel when specialized expertise is required.
- Develop and implement legal strategies to minimize risks and maximize opportunities.
- Work with HR and outside legal counsel to manage employment law issues, including employment contracts, dispute resolution, and compliance with labor laws.
- Oversee intellectual property matters, including trademarks and copyrights.
- Assist in the development and review of company policies and procedures.
- Provide training to employees on legal topics relevant to their roles.
Requirements:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Licensed to practice law in the relevant jurisdiction(s).
- Minimum of 5 years of legal experience, preferably with a focus on corporate law.
- Experience working in a corporate legal department or as an in-house counsel.
- Advanced knowledge of corporate law and regulations.
- Strong negotiation and contract drafting skills.
- Experience with regulatory compliance and risk management.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with intellectual property law.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proven track record of providing effective legal counsel.
- Strong understanding of contract law, employment law, and intellectual property law.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- High ethical standards and professional integrity.
Salary Rage: $160,000- $225,000
