The Rehabilitation Aide, under the direction and immediate supervision of therapists, assists in patient care related activities and performs routine department clerical tasks such as answering telephones, scheduling appointments and maintaining inventory.
A day in the life of a Rehab Aide at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:
- Modeling and maintaining a safe environment in which to deliver services.
- Assisting patients in performing activities of daily living using proper body mechanics.
- Cleaning and disinfecting equipment as per policy.
- Maintaining all supplies and equipment, including tracking inventory and ordering supplies and/or notifying appropriate staff to order supplies.
- Monitoring patients with established exercise programs and ambulates patients safely under the supervision of a professional.
- Distributing linen, hot and cold packs, and supplies, handling laundry, putting away equipment after use and performing clearing and maintenance of equipment.
- Transporting patients into the appropriate treatment areas in an orderly and timely fashion.
- Notifying the supervisor of any unsafe conditions and handling emergency situations in an appropriate manner.
- Assisting therapists to ensure efficiency of department, especially during high patient volume.
- Providing clerical/front desk support as needed assisting with answering phones, relaying messages, greeting patients, copying, filing and maintaining charts and scheduling or patient appointments.
- Developing a rapport and mutual respect with patients and team members fostering an optimum environment for goal achievement.
- Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
- Adhering to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
- High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), and/or GED equivalent programs.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient computer skills that include but are not limited to Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms.
Licenses and Certifications Required:
- BLS Certification within 30 days of hire.

Compensation Starting at $17.38 Hourly HMH is committed to pay equity and transparency for our team members. The posted rate of pay in this job posting is a reasonable good faith estimate of the minimum base pay for this role at the time of posting in accordance with the New Jersey Pay Transparency Act and does not reflect the full value of our market-competitive total rewards package.
