Job Overview:

The Histology Technician is responsible for preparing tissue specimens for microscopic examination and diagnosis by pathologists. This role demands precision, attention to detail, and expertise in histological techniques. The Histology Technician ensures high-quality slide preparation through embedding, sectioning, and staining.

Qualifications:

Required:

• High School graduate or equivalent
• Must be able to prepare tissue specimens of a quality that can be diagnosed by a pathologist

Preferred:

• 1-2 years of experience in a histology lab or clinical rotation
• Associate or Bachelor degree in Histolotechnology, Biology, or related life sciences
• HT-ASCP OR HTL-ASCP

Scheduling Requirements:

• Shift working, 3-11pm, shift may vary
• Must be able to cover every other weekend and Holidays as needed
• Per Diem (PD)

Essential Functions:

• Receive, log, and accession tissue specimens from surgical, and diagnostic cases
• Embed tissue samples in paraffin blocks and section them using microtomes
• Perform routine and special staining techniques-such as H and E
• Operate and maintain laboratory equipment including tissue processors, stainers, slide, and cassette printer
• Ensure proper labeling and documentation of all specimens and slides
