Director, Market Research (Hematology)

The Role
The Director of Market Research (Hematology) will collaborate closely with global and country teams to design and implement strategic and tactical research, as well as competitive intelligence plans. This role aims to address critical business questions and inform product strategy, thereby supporting the overall commercial development portfolio in hematologic malignancies and related blood disorders.

Key responsibilities include planning, supporting, and managing market research, tracking studies (pre- and post-launch), analyzing the competitive landscape, and presenting insights to global and country franchise teams, cross-functional teams, and senior management. The Director will develop cutting-edge, commercially relevant HCP, patient, and CI insights to support global commercialization and leadership teams.

This position is based in Princeton NJ, and it requires you to be onsite at least 60% of the time.

Responsibilities

  • Design and lead a comprehensive market research plan addressing brand strategic imperatives in hematology, identifying suitable supplier partners, and fostering strong partnerships to meet resource, timing, and project goals.
  • Conduct periodic synthesis of insights and analytics, such as quarterly or biannual reviews, to inform business strategies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional team members and country-level colleagues to ensure alignment on study objectives and effective dissemination of insights and learnings.
  • Partner with the early brand team to design and execute analytics that inform marketing and sales strategies/tactics in hematology, complementing market research activities.
  • Integrate primary research (custom, syndicated, etc.) with brand/sales/payer analytics, forecasting, and competitive intelligence to drive strategies and actions that significantly impact revenue and profit.
  • Develop foundational market understanding through treatment flow maps, market segmentation, target product profile studies, attribute/benefit testing, opportunity assessments, and market landscape research specific to hematologic diseases.
  • Provide strategic input to shape business plans, program strategies, new indication launch plans, and life cycle management within the hematology portfolio.
  • Ensure outstanding and agile execution of global market research and insights generation, guiding high-priority development initiatives while adhering strictly to company policies and guidelines.
  • Present complex issues clearly and persuasively, effectively communicating recommendations to cross-functional and brand teams.
  • Stay updated on emerging trends in hematology, healthcare, and the broader pharmaceutical industry, assessing their potential impact on franchise business strategies.
  • Build and maintain meaningful internal and external partnerships, adding value and insights for the organization. Use insights to uncover important unmet needs in hematologic conditions.
Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA or related graduate-level degree preferred. Candidates should have at least 10 years of experience with a BS/BA or 5+ years with an MS/MA or MBA.
  • Minimum of 5 years in market research, marketing sciences, strategic consulting, or analytical roles in biotech/pharmaceutical industries, with a strong focus on hematology.
  • Proven ability to deliver actionable insights through qualitative and quantitative market research. Strong strategic problem-solving skills and proficiency in managing multiple projects under tight deadlines.
  • Oncology experience is essential; experience in hematologic malignancies (e.g., lymphoma, leukemia, multiple myeloma) strongly preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to influence cross-functional teams and manage conflict resolution effectively.
  • Strong relationship-building skills with team members and external partners.
  • Skilled in storytelling, data visualization, and creating effective presentations. Proficiency in Microsoft applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and Tableau.
  • Knowledgeable in pharmaceutical and specialty pharmacy data sources, including RWE, patient-level data, and sales data sources.
  • High intellectual curiosity and the ability to triangulate insights from multiple data sources.
