Development Intern
The American Littoral Society is a nonprofit, membership-based organization headquartered on Sandy Hook in Highlands, NJ. The Society promotes the study and conservation of marine life and habitat, protects the coast from harm, and empowers others to do the same. We are offering summer internship opportunities based out of Sandy Hook National Recreation Area.
The Development Intern will support the overall fundraising efforts of the American Littoral Society. The Intern will provide administrative and operational support to the Development and Communications team and the organization as a whole. This position is a great opportunity to learn the skills needed to become a non-profit fundraising professional. The Development Intern reports to the Director of Development, Membership and Outreach.
Requirements
Primary Responsibilities will include:
- Assist in the coordination and implementation of fundraising solicitations and campaigns
- Assist in grant research and drafting foundation proposals
- Help with event registration forms and event publicity across multiple online channels
- Support major fundraising events by helping with event logistics, securing in-kind donations, soliciting for sponsorships
- Help create communications collateral for fundraising activities
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications: We are seeking an energetic, dedicated, and detail-oriented individual with event planning, fundraising, marketing, and/or communications experience ideally in a public-facing role. A working knowledge of the life history and ecology of local marine life is desirable, but not necessary. Internship will require the use of personal vehicle and laptop.
This internship opportunity is a paid, part-time, two-day-a-week role with flexible hours and some evening and weekends required. This is an excellent opportunity to work with a well-established organization that promotes coastal conservation.
The Littoral Society offers compensation based upon experience and education and seeks someone who can begin work in early – mid June 2022. The Society will work with you to make the internship eligible for college credits from your educational institution.
