We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Restaurant General Manager to lead a premier, upscale dining operation in Hackensack, NJ. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in managing high-end restaurants, a passion for hospitality, and a proven ability to drive operational excellence while delivering exceptional guest experiences. This is a dynamic, hands-on leadership role that requires an individual with excellent organizational, financial, and team-building skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Overall Restaurant Operations: Oversee the daily operations of the restaurant, ensuring a seamless, high-quality dining experience for guests while maintaining smooth and efficient operations across all departments
Staff Leadership & Development: Lead, mentor, and motivate a diverse team of managers, front-of-house staff, and back-of-house employees. Foster a positive, collaborative, and high-performance culture that encourages growth, development, and exceptional service standards
Financial Management: Manage the restaurant’s P&L, including labor costs, food and beverage inventory, and overall expenses. Implement cost control measures to ensure profitability while maintaining exceptional quality
Guest Experience: Ensure every guest receives a top-tier dining experience, handling any guest feedback or complaints professionally and promptly. Develop strategies to enhance guest satisfaction and loyalty
Training & Performance Evaluation: Oversee the recruitment, training, and performance evaluations of staff, ensuring all team members meet company standards and deliver on the restaurant’s brand promise
Operational Efficiency: Continuously evaluate and improve operational systems, processes, and workflows to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and optimize resource use
Marketing & Community Engagement: Collaborate with the marketing team to develop and implement promotional strategies to increase brand awareness, drive traffic, and generate sales
Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and sanitation regulations, creating a safe environment for both guests and staff
Financial Reporting: Prepare and analyze weekly and monthly reports on financial performance, making adjustments as necessary to meet business goals
Event Management: Oversee special events, private parties, and catering services, ensuring flawless execution and a memorable guest experience
Qualifications:
5+ years of restaurant management experience, with at least 2+ years in a General Manager or senior management role at an upscale or fine dining establishment
Proven ability to manage and inspire large teams in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment
Strong understanding of financial management, including budgeting, P&L analysis, and cost control
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills with a customer-focused mindset
Experience with restaurant management software and POS systems
Ability to analyze operational data and make strategic decisions to improve efficiency and profitability
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively
Knowledge of local health and safety regulations and food safety standards
A passion for hospitality and delivering outstanding dining experiences
Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
