Helper O H Lines
The primary purpose of this role is to support the safe, reliable, and efficient construction, maintenance, and operation of utility infrastructure by performing physically demanding fieldwork in diverse and often hazardous environments. This position requires strict adherence to all Federal, State, Local, and PHI safety regulations—including DOT requirements—while executing tasks such as climbing, lifting, operating aerial equipment, working at extreme heights, accessing confined spaces, and handling or working near energized electrical equipment. The role is also responsible for responding to emergencies, providing first aid when needed, and working varying schedules, including overtime, holidays, and inclement weather, to ensure the continuous and safe delivery of utility services.
Primary Duties:- Ability and willingness to comply with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations of the U.S. Department of Transportation (including being at least 18 years of age, physical certification, substance abuse testing, etc).
- Ability and willingness to perform physically challenging tasks for extended periods of time (for example, lifting up to 50 pounds, climbing poles, ladders and scaffolding, excavating trenches, bending, twisting, kneeling, crawling, pulling/pushing, standing, walking, and squatting).
- Ability and willingness to work in a variety of work environments including: outdoors in all weather conditions, at extreme heights (above 30 feet), on or around energized electrical equipment, in confined spaces or enclosed vessels, underground and in noisy and dirty environments with proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Ability and willingness to operate aerial lifts.
- Ability and willingness to wear and use safety equipment as required by Federal, State, Local and PHI regulations (for example, ear plugs, helmets, Dielectric Boots, rubber gloves and sleeves, hard hat, fire retardant clothing, etc.).
- Ability and willingness to work on or around hazardous equipment/materials (for example, heavy equipment, etc.), and/or energized electrical equipment.
- Ability and willingness to apply resuscitation and render practical first aid.
- Ability and willingness to work overtime, varying shifts, varying schedules, holidays, weekends, during emergencies or standby as needed.
- Ability to work in inclement weather
Job Scope:

Minimum Qualifications:
- Must possess or be qualified to obtain an interstate motor vehicle operator’s license CDL class A with a HAZMAT endorsement within six months of entry into the position.
- Ability and willingness to travel to various Company locations and work sites.
- Must live within a reasonable distance from the assigned District Office.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
- Must successfully pass qualification test.
- Must successfully pass a Criminal History Records Check.
- Must successfully pass a medical screening to include a drug test.
- Experience demonstrating skill using hand, pneumatic and/or hydraulic tools to perform manual work functions.
- Experience demonstrating skill operating non-Commercial Driver’s License vehicles and material handling equipment.
- Experience demonstrating skill handling, using and preparing materials, equipment and electric tackle (lines, rigging).
- Experience demonstrating skill assisting in the placement of de-energized overhead and underground lines and equipment.
- Knowledge of electrical fundamentals as related to construction, maintenance, and operation of the transmission and distribution system
- Hourly rates will be paid in accordance with terms of the candidate’s skills, qualifications, experience or collective bargaining agreement: $24.27/Hr.
