Position: HR/Payroll Specialist
Location: Somerset, NJ
Compensation: $75K- $90K DOE
Hybrid schedule with one day WFH after 90 day training
RemX is proud to partner with our client in their search for a strategic and results-oriented HR/Payroll Specialist. This role provides payroll, benefits and employee relations support across the full employee lifecycle in the US and Canada. You will partner with leaders and staff to deliver exceptional employee experience while ensuring payroll accuracy, benefits administration, compliance with employment regulations and effective HR operations. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, customer-focused and thrives in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Process weekly, bi-weekly/monthly and special payrolls across North America, ensuring accuracy, compliance and timely delivery
- Administer payroll activities, including auditing payroll data, resolving discrepancies, responding to employee inquiries, and maintaining payroll records
- Support benefits administration, leave of absence programs, COBRA compliance, open enrollment, and employee benefit changes
- Generate, analyze, and maintain payroll and HR reports to support compliance, audits, and business decision-making
- Assist with employee onboarding and offboarding processes, including pay and benefits orientation
- Support employee relations activities by responding to employee inquiries, assisting with investigations, documenting cases, and providing guidance on policies and workplace practices
- Collaborate with HR leadership on performance management processes, corrective actions, accommodations, workers’ compensation, unemployment claims, and leave administration
- Maintain accurate HRIS records, employee files, and documentation in accordance with company policies and legal requirements
- Support HR programs and annual initiatives, including performance reviews, wellness campaigns, employee engagement activities, and process improvement efforts
- Utilize advanced Excel functions and reporting tools to audit data, reconcile payroll information, identify discrepancies, and improve reporting efficiency
Requirements
- Associate degree in Human Resources, Business Admin, Accounting, Finance or related
- Min 2-3 years’ experience in HR, Payroll, Benefits Administration or related HR function
- Strong knowledge of payroll processing, benefits administration and compliance requirements
- Strong expertise with LOA programs and applicable regulations including FMLA, ADA, ACA, COBRA, HIPAA and related state laws
- Experience creating reports, dashboards, trackers and payroll audits to support business operations
- Very strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving and communication skills
- Effective in managing multi-shifting priorities and confidential information
- Self-starter who works well with little to no supervision in a fast-paced environment
- Bachelor’s degree, SHRM-CP, CPP, FPC, CEBS, or related HR/payroll certifications preferred
- Adv MS Excel skills, Pivot Tables, V/Xlookups, Index Match, IF statements, SUMIFS and analysis
- Strong expertise with ADP a MUST
- Proficiency with HRIS, payroll systems, MS Office applications and database management tools
