Job Description
The forklift operator safely handles, moves, and stores materials within a warehouse and manufacturing environment while supporting accurate shipping, receiving, and inventory control. This role operates sit-down forklifts and other material handling equipment, completes documentation, and follows strict safety and quality standards to keep products flowing efficiently through the facility.
Responsibilities
- Receive incoming materials and products, unload trucks, and verify the accuracy of shipments against packing lists or bills of lading.
- Prepare outgoing shipments by picking, staging, packing, labeling, and documenting items to ensure they are ready and accurate for transportation.
- Maintain accurate records of inventory levels and locations, updating systems and logs as materials move through the warehouse.
- Perform regular cycle counts and assist with physical inventory activities to support inventory accuracy and reconciliation.
- Safely operate sit-down forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment to transport materials within the warehouse and loading docks.
- Ensure proper handling, stacking, and storage of materials to prevent damage, loss, or safety hazards.
- Inspect incoming and outgoing materials and products for quality and quantity discrepancies and promptly report any issues to supervisors.
- Assist in resolving quality concerns by identifying nonconforming materials and following established procedures.
- Complete all required paperwork and electronic documentation related to shipping, receiving, and inventory management in a timely and accurate manner.
- Use inventory management software and basic computer applications to enter data, track materials, and generate required forms or reports.
- Follow all safety protocols, including the use of required personal protective equipment, to maintain a safe and orderly work environment.
- Comply with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements related to material handling, shipping, and receiving activities.
- Support general warehouse housekeeping by keeping work areas clean, organized, and free of hazards.
- Collaborate with team members and other departments to ensure efficient material flow and on-time shipments.
Skills
- Proven experience as a material handler, shipping and receiving clerk, or in a similar role within a warehouse or manufacturing environment.
- Ability to safely operate sit-down forklifts and other material handling equipment such as pallet jacks.
- Valid forklift certification preferred, with a strong commitment to safe equipment operation.
- Demonstrated experience in shipping, receiving, picking, and material handling activities.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to accurately complete paperwork and maintain inventory records.
- Basic computer skills, including the ability to use inventory management software and MS Office programs.
- Physical ability to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
- Ability to work in a warehouse and yard environment with varying temperatures and conditions.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment with active machinery and production processes.
- Familiarity with shipping documentation such as packing lists and bills of lading.
- Experience performing cycle counts and assisting with physical inventory.
- Ability to identify quality issues and follow procedures for reporting and resolving discrepancies.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to participate in skills training and development programs to expand capabilities.

Work Environment
The role is based in a manufacturing and warehouse environment with machines running, where some areas can be loud and dusty. Safety glasses and gloves are provided, and adherence to all safety procedures is expected. The physical setting includes a warehouse and yard with varying temperatures and conditions, and the work involves regular lifting and movement of materials. The typical dress code includes manufacturing-appropriate attire such as work pants or jeans, sweatshirts, and work boots, with steel-toe boots recommended if available.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $18.00 - $19.00/hr.
