Position Summary

The Shift Supervisor is responsible for overseeing production operations during their assigned shift, ensuring that safety, quality, and output targets are consistently met. This role leads a team of machine operators, material handlers, and support personnel, coordinating activities across the production floor and responding to issues that arise in real-time. The Shift Supervisor is expected to lead by example, communicate clearly, and maintain a well-organized, efficient, and compliant work environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise day-to-day operations on the production floor, ensuring adherence to production schedules and quality standards.
• Monitor employee performance, provide guidance, and address concerns as they arise.
• Enforce safety protocols and ensure PPE compliance throughout the shift.
• Facilitate effective shift handovers and communicate key updates to management and other departments.
• Coordinate with material handling, maintenance, and quality teams to resolve production issues.
• Ensure accurate completion of production logs, downtime records, and shift reports.
• Lead shift start-up meetings to align on priorities and communicate safety or quality updates.
• Train, coach, and support team members to improve skillsets and job performance.
• Monitor machine and personnel availability to ensure optimal staffing and output.
• Escalate unresolved equipment or process issues to maintenance or engineering teams.
• Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

Required Skills & Competencies

• Strong leadership and decision-making skills in a fast-paced environment.
• Working knowledge of manufacturing operations, particularly in injection molding or similar settings.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills across all levels of the organization.
• Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and remain calm under pressure.
• Competence with basic computer systems, including shift reporting and production tracking tools.
• Familiarity with safety standards, quality systems, and basic troubleshooting practices.

Preferred Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in a supervisory or lead role within a manufacturing environment.
• Background in plastic injection molding or related industry is strongly preferred.
• Experience using ERP or MES systems for production reporting.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.
• Technical training or certifications related to manufacturing, automation, injection molding, safety, or quality assurance.

Work Environment

• Industrial production setting with exposure to machinery, noise, and varying temperatures.
• Requires standing, walking, and interacting with team members throughout the shift.
• PPE is required in all production areas.
