We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Restaurant Manager to oversee operations at a fast-paced, high-volume diner in Essex Falls, NJ. This is a hands-on role ideal for an individual who thrives in a bustling environment, enjoys leading large teams, and is passionate about delivering an exceptional guest experience. As the Restaurant Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring smooth operations across the restaurant, including both front and back-of-house management, while driving profitability and maintaining high standards of service.
Key Responsibilities:
Daily Operations Management: Oversee day-to-day restaurant operations, ensuring seamless service during peak hours and maintaining efficiency across all areas
Team Leadership: Lead, train, and motivate a large, diverse team of front-of-house servers, cooks, and support staff, fostering a collaborative, high-energy work environment
Guest Experience: Ensure every guest receives exceptional service and resolves any concerns or complaints quickly and professionally
Staffing & Scheduling: Optimize labor costs through efficient staffing and scheduling, ensuring proper coverage for busy shifts and special events
Financial Oversight: Track key performance metrics, manage inventory, and oversee cost control measures to ensure profitability
Training & Development: Continuously develop team members by providing training on customer service, product knowledge, and operational best practices
Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including food safety, cleanliness, and sanitation protocols
Problem Solving: Handle any operational issues, guest complaints, or staff challenges that arise, maintaining calm and professionalism
Operational Efficiency: Implement and maintain effective operational systems and processes to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance overall service quality
Marketing & Community Engagement: Work with the team to execute local marketing efforts and community engagement strategies to drive traffic to the diner
Qualifications:
3+ years of restaurant management experience in a high-volume environment (diner, casual dining, or similar settings)
Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate a large team in a fast-paced environment
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with staff, guests, and ownership
Proven ability to manage labor costs, inventory, and P&L to drive operational success
Ability to problem-solve and think on your feet during busy times, maintaining a focus on service quality
Highly organized with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and manage time effectively
Knowledge of food safety regulations and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and safety
Experience with restaurant management software, POS systems, and scheduling tools
Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
