We are looking for a dedicated Compliance Manager to join a non-profit organization in Newark, New Jersey. This contract position requires an individual who is well-versed in regulatory compliance and has experience in property management or related fields. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring adherence to laws, standards, and procedures across the organization.
Responsibilities:• Stay informed about changes in regulations and industry standards to maintain effective compliance controls.
• Interpret relevant laws and regulations, particularly those related to housing, and provide actionable recommendations to senior management.
• Prepare detailed compliance reports and maintain accurate records as required.
• Assess the effectiveness of existing compliance measures and recommend improvements.
• Identify potential risks or non-conformities and develop strategies to address these issues.
• Collaborate with senior management and other departments to ensure consistent enforcement of regulations and standards.
• Work closely with property managers to identify compliance challenges and provide guidance or training as needed.
• Assist in monitoring and evaluating compliance practices within the organization.
• Carry out additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.• High school diploma or equivalent education.
• At least four years of experience in property management or a related field.
• Certification as a Certified Property Manager, Certified Occupancy Specialist, Tax Credit Specialist, or Management and Occupancy Review Specialist.
• Proficiency in accounting software systems such as ADP, CaseWare, Concur, and ERP platforms.
• Strong knowledge of accounting functions, including accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), and bank reconciliations.
• Experience with auditing processes and HUD compliance.
• Excellent organizational and analytical skills to assess and address compliance issues.
• Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and communicate effectively.
