Permitting Technician
Coordinates and supports environmental permitting and land resource field activities under close supervision. This position is considered a training role intended to develop foundational technical and regulatory skills.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned
Field and Data Collection Support
- Assists with wetland delineations and land resource field investigations under supervision
- Collects, records, and organizes field data accurately
- Supports field teams in executing environmental and permitting-related tasks
- Maintains field equipment and follows safety protocols
Permitting and Documentation Support
- Assists in preparation of environmental permit applications, exhibits, and supporting materials
- Performs data entry and supports regulatory research activities
- Tracks permit applications, submissions, and agency correspondence
- Maintains organized and up-to-date project files
Project Coordination Support
- Supports project teams with administrative and coordination tasks
- Assists in tracking schedules and deliverables
- Communicates progress and issues to supervisors and team members
- Contributes to maintaining efficient workflow across projects
Training and Development
- Learns permitting processes, field methods, and regulatory requirements
- Develops foundational technical and professional skills
- Seeks guidance and feedback from senior staff
- Participates in training and development opportunities

Education and/or Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Planning, or related field with 0–2 years of relevant experience.
Language Skills
Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situation
Computer Skills
Strong computer skills including MS Office, Word, Excel, Outlook and proficient in Adobe Suite software, adaptable to new technologies etc. a must.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER preferred. Valid Driver’s License required.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, and sit. The employee may be required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
The majority of work is conducted in an office setting with periodic field work. Field work may involve exposure to uneven terrain, weather conditions, and environmental hazards. Appropriate safety equipment and PPE are required when working in the field.
