Packaging Maintenance Mechanic

Job Title: Packaging Maintenance Mechanic (4-Day Work Week!) Location: Northern NJ (Teterboro Area) Compensation: $28 - $38/hr (Depending on PLC experience) Schedule: Monday – Thursday | 7:30 AM – 6:00 PM (Fridays are OT)

About the Role: We are hiring for a leading Cosmetics & Personal Care Manufacturer looking to expand their maintenance team. This is a chance to work in a clean, GMP environment with a company that values work-life balance (enjoy a 3-day weekend every week!).

We have openings for both Mechanical-Focused Techs and PLC-Skilled Techs.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

• Setups & Changeovers: Perform complete line setups, including lot coding, labeling, and filler adjustments for various product formats (tubes, lipsticks, bottles, and powders).

• Troubleshooting: Diagnose and repair mechanical issues on packaging lines to maintain continuous operation.

• Maintenance: Perform Preventative Maintenance (PMs) on lines and components during changeovers.

• Technology: Utilize iPads and the Red Zone productivity program to track workflow (training provided).

• Sanitization: Handle filler cleaning and sanitization following strict SOPs.

• PLC Operations: For higher-level technicians, troubleshoot and adjust PLC controls.

• Safety: Adhere to Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) procedures and ensure all safety guards are in place.

What We Are Looking For:

• Previous experience as a Mechanic or Technician in a manufacturing environment (Cosmetics, Pharma, or Food & Bev preferred).

• For the Senior Role ($35-$38/hr): Must have experience troubleshooting PLCs.

• For the Mid-Level Role ($28-$35/hr): Mechanical aptitude and setup experience required; PLC knowledge is a plus but not mandatory.

• Comfortable using digital tools (iPad/Tablets).

• Ability to work the Monday-Thursday schedule.

Responsibilities

Job Responsibilities:
· Complete packaging line set ups including lot coding and labeling.
· Complete filler cleaning and sanitization following the prescribed SOP’s as required.
· Use of Red Zone program; ability to use iPad.
· Experience with PLC operations
· Perform preventative maintenance on the line and line components on changeovers and as
prescribed in the PM program.
· Use Lock Out Tag Out procedure where appropriate when making adjustments to line.
· Troubleshoot packaging lines as required to maintain continuous operation of the line.
· Work closely with the Quality Inspectors and operators to ensure the packaging lines produce
products that meet quality requirements.
· Ensure line layouts are set up in a way that ensures safe operation.
· Report any malfunctioning equipment or broken parts to supervisor.
· Cross train on all lines – tubes, lipstick, bottles and powders.
· Assist in the training of line personnel at line start up and as needed.
· Keeps work area clean and organized

The essential functions of this role include:

• manual lifting up to 50lbs
• standing for 6 hours at one time
• working up to 8 hrs of overtime per week
