Job Title: Shipping Laborer
Job Description

Hot Roll Shipping Laborers are responsible for packaging, assisting the crane operator, and banding of hot roll material.

Responsibilities

• Place correct material tags on each bundle after they are properly packaged or banded.
• Depress controls on the conveyor stand to move material to various parts of the conveyor.
• Notify management of inventory levels of gloves, banding, paper wrap, and materials needed for the workstation.
• Communicate with operators regarding materials needed for all work orders daily.
• Use electric saws to cut wood into proper lengths.
• Read material tags to assist in spotting current loads.
• Maintain housekeeping of workspace to ensure safety.
• Obtain and maintain a forklift certification (in-house).
• Communicate with transportation drivers to ensure loads are placed on the proper trucks.
• Assist in completing load sheets, collecting tags, and loading trucks.

• Production experience
• General labor and production skills
• Packaging and material handling
• Forklift operation
• Hand tool proficiency
• Machine operation

• Great manual dexterity, depth perception, hand-eye coordination, and fast reaction time.
• Ability to carry/lift up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to use and read a tape measure and micrometer.
• Regular, predictable attendance is essential.
• Ability to withstand temperature changes due to different seasons.
• Required to stand and walk for up to 10 hours in various weather conditions.
• Ability to hear and see both at close distance and peripherally.
• Ability to wear all proper PPE, including but not limited to steel toe boots, hard hat, safety gloves, eye protection, and ear protection.
• Follow company policies and procedures.

Work Environment

The work schedule is 1st shift, Monday-Friday, from 6:00 am to 3:30 pm, with 5-10 hours of additional work per week. The environment is an industrial steel manufacturing setting, non-climate controlled.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Camden, NJ.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $16.00 - $19.00/hr.
