A nationally recognized overnight music conservatory and summer school set in the Adirondack Mountains, drawing young and emerging musicians ages 10–30 from around the world. A full-campus residential experience where the health and safety of every student and staff member is treated as mission-critical from day one through closing.
Compensation & Benefits
Base Salary: $1,500–$1,700/week — Based on experience and qualifications; open to negotiation
Relocation Assistance: Travel stipend included
Shift: Full-time, on-site; rotating days off (typically weekends); on-call availability required as needed
Benefits Package: Private air-conditioned room and board; all meals provided June 16–August 9; full access to on-campus amenities
Job Summary
Take charge of all health center operations in a 3-bed infirmary serving a residential music conservatory and overnight camp. From routine care to emergency response, the Head Nurse is the primary medical authority on site—working in close partnership with leadership, faculty, and outside providers.
Key Responsibilities
Establish and uphold campus-wide health and sanitation standards throughout the program
Build and sustain accurate, confidential health records and a daily medical log for all campers and staff
Complete intake health screenings for arriving participants; carry out ongoing wellness monitoring across the season
Provide first response to medical emergencies; deliver CPR and first aid as the situation demands
Oversee safe dispensing and documentation of prescription and OTC medications for the full community
Communicate health status, protocols, and updates to staff, faculty, and families with clarity and care
Coordinate with local hospitals, physicians, and pharmacies as clinical needs arise
Transport and accompany campers or staff to outside medical care when required
Maintain the infirmary, supplies, and equipment in a consistently clean, stocked, and ready condition
Actively monitor for communicable disease patterns and intervene early to protect the broader community
Minimum Requirements
Active New York State RN license in good standing (or eligible for licensure)
Valid CPR/AED and First Aid certification
Willing and able to reside on-site and remain available for on-call coverage throughout the season
Clinical or youth-program experience with individuals ages 10–30
Sharp clinical assessment skills; comfortable making independent decisions under pressure
Ideal Qualifications
Experience in camp, school, or residential youth healthcare settings
Warm and steady; earns trust quickly with students, staff, and families even in stressful moments
A reliable collaborator who shows up fully in high-stakes clinical situations
Wilderness First Aid certification is a plus
