Job Overview:

The Oncology Licensed Social Worker(LSW) is responsible for the planning, organization, and implementation of social work services for cancer patients and their families. The LSW provides individual and group counseling to patients and families and facilitates the mobilization of community resources to support optimal functioning.

Qualifications:

Required:

• Master's degree in Social Work
• Bilingual in English and Spanish

Preferred:

• One year previous experience in a healthcare setting

Certifications and Licenses Required:

• NJ Licensed Social Worker

Scheduling Requirements:

• Shift working, Monday-Friday 8am-4pm
• Full-Time (FT)

Essential Functions:

• Performs clinical assessments, interventions
• Counseling with patients, families, and groups to achieve optimal psychosocial functioning
• Coordinates and facilitates referrals to community agencies to achieve an optimal interface between patient/family needs and community resources
• Participates in multidisciplinary case conferences, staff education and support, and professional education to enhance knowledge and teamwork for optimal patient care
• Involvement in community networking to increase knowledge and availability of services to patients and families
• Administrative activities include staff meetings, statistical reporting, quality assurance and other assigned duties to provide accountability and support objectives of the cancer center
• Assesses and responds to identified needs of patients and families, coordinating with medical and nursing staff, community programs, and other members of the psychosocial team to provide optimal patient care
• Coordination of complex systems to provide optimal patient care and enhance the effective functioning of these systems in delivery of services
• Complies with regulatory requirements (i.e. Joint Commission) appropriate for position
• Maintains active LSW license with appropriate state agency and in good standing
